GIANNI CACCIARINI

Born in Florence, Italy, May 4, 1941, lives in Florence

School -- Belongs to the Tuscan (Florentine) school. A self-taught artist, Cacciarini learned the technique of engraving in the studio of Vairo Mongatti. He has degree in Architecture, teaches at a High School for the arts, and is an acclaimed painter.

Number of plates -- He has been engraving since 1973, achieving a corpus of 250 engravings.

Prefered technique -- Etching, Acquatint

Favorite subject -- Urban landscape, Gardens, Still Life, Abandoned factories, Architecturals.

Style -- Stylistically he is a neo-classicist and with Mongatti founded an academic figurative movement called “Academia Nova” as an antithesis to the expressionist or “Non-finito” movement. He works with zinc plates, doing multiple bitings.

Present -- Bolaffi. Mondadori. Prandi. Bellini. Biennials in Venezia, Florence, Paris, Ljubljana, New York; triennials in Grado. Gabinetto dei disegni e delle stampe degli Uffizi a Firenze. Exibitions and prix -- National and international. The must important - Premio della Triennale Europea, Grado 1987.

VAIRO MONGATTI

Born in Florence, Italy, October 24,1934, lives in Florence. In 1963 he saw an exhibition of Morandi’s engravings and decided to learn etching. At the Accademia in Florence he studied the art of Canalletto, Fattori and Rembrandt under Margheri and Viviani. He holds Morandi’s chair at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Bologna; since 1994 has taught engraving in Florence.

Prefered techniques -- Etching

Favorite subjects -- Natura morta, Landscape 

Style -- Figurative. Classic. Language with "chiaroscuro", a net with the parallel lines, a slow and enveloping technique; Mongatti always does multiple bitings on the plate; stopping-out the preceding lines. Leader of the Figurative and Academic Movement "Academia Nova" which advocates a return to pure, figurative, classical etching.

TINO AIME

(Cuneo, Italy 1931 - 2017)

School: Painter, sculptor and engraver, Aime belongs to the school of Turin (Professor Idro Colombi). 

Number of plates: He has been engraving since 1963, achieving a corpus of 450 plates, mostly etchings and acquaint with interventions of watercolor.

Preferred technique: Etching, Aquatint

Favorite subject: Still Lives, Landscapes, Windows

Exhibitions and prix: Countless -National and International. In Italy, Aime exposed in all important museums and galleries; Exhibitions in France, Germany, Romania, Greece, USA
